## How is the index compiled?

Sell My Data To AI compiled this index from the published figures on our industry, data type, buyer and deal pages. Every figure is quoted as its source published it, and every row links to that source.

- A figure is included only when a buyer, marketplace, broker or news report has published it, and we cite where it was published.
- Industry ranges are payouts a buyer publishes for a whole company's records. They are not prices paid in a specific deal.
- Published figures are ceilings, not quotes. What a company is offered depends on its rights position, the size and history of its archive and buyer demand.
- Deal values are as reported. Deals reported without terms are counted but left out of every value figure.
- We only add figures that share a currency and a unit. The combined annual figure adds the low end of each deal reported in US dollars a year.
- We do not average, estimate or extrapolate. Where a figure is not published, the table says Not published.

We review the index every quarter and update it when a buyer changes its published terms or a new deal value is reported. This edition reflects sources checked up to November 2026.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much do AI companies pay for company data?

AI companies publish payouts of $20,000 to $1.5 million per company for company records across 11 industries, according to Mercor's published listings, as reported by ddiy.co. Those ranges are ceilings for the companies that fit best, not quotes. What you are offered depends on the rights you hold, the size and history of your archive and how many buyers compete. A [free data valuation](https://sellmydatatoai.net/data-valuation) gives you a realistic range for your own records.

### Are published payouts what a seller will actually be paid?

Published payouts are ceilings, not quotes. A buyer's published range covers its whole target market, from small firms to large ones, and the final price depends on the volume, history, quality and rights position of the data. Treat the top of any range as the exception, and compare offers on the same license terms before you sign. Take independent legal advice on the license itself.

### What is the largest reported AI data licensing deal?

The largest reported AI data licensing deal in our tracker is about $250 million over five years in cash and credits, paid by OpenAI to News Corp and reported in May 2024 (Engadget, citing The Wall Street Journal, May 2024). Neither company disclosed terms. 10 of the 21 deals we track have a disclosed value. The full list is in our [AI data deals tracker](https://sellmydatatoai.net/ai-data-deals).

### How much do AI companies pay per minute of video?

Video training data is priced per minute of footage. Published figures include average about $2.62 per minute, up to about $7.25 (paid by Adobe, reported by Bloomberg) and $1 to $4 per minute (paid by OpenAI, reported by Versos without a primary source). Ask what a quoted rate covers, including rights and metadata, before you compare offers. Our page on [video training data](https://sellmydatatoai.net/buy-ai-training-data/video-training-data) explains what buyers check.

### Can I reuse or cite the AI data price index?

You can reuse the AI data price index under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license (CC BY 4.0). That covers the tables and the CSV file, including commercial use, as long as you credit Sell My Data To AI and link to this page. The suggested citation is in the How to cite this index box on this page.

### How often is the AI data price index updated?

We review the AI data price index every quarter and update it when a buyer changes its published terms or a new deal value is reported. This edition reflects sources checked up to November 2026, and the date at the top of the page shows the last update. Email hello@sellmydatatoai.net with any published figure we have missed, and include its source.
