Buy customer support ticket data for AI training
Last updated How we research
In short
Customer support ticket data is the record of real customer problems and how agents resolved them, licensed from helpdesk systems to train and evaluate support assistants and AI agents. micro1 lists support tickets among the operational records it licenses, with company payouts from $100,000. The value sits in resolved threads with outcomes, and the main risk is customer personal data inside the text.
Key takeaways
- AI teams use customer support ticket data for (1) fine-tuning customer support assistants, (2) training ticket triage and routing models and (3) agent training on resolution workflows.
- Usually priced per ticket archive, as a flat license fee.
- Common delivery formats: Helpdesk exports in JSON or CSV, JSONL conversation threads and linked knowledge base articles in Markdown or HTML.
- Check before you license customer support ticket data: (1) US: CCPA and other state privacy laws for customer personal information, (2) US: privacy notice in force when customers wrote in, which the FTC expects companies to honor and (3) customer personal data removed from ticket text and attachments.
- Every seller we shortlist passes 8 vetting checks before you see a sample.

Why AI teams work with us
- 1
Every seller of customer support ticket data we shortlist has passed eight vetting checks, from authority to sign through to a re-identification test.
- 2
Each shortlist comes with a vetting file per seller: rights evidence, provenance record, de-identification method, data manifest and proposed license terms.
- 3
Samples are drawn at random across the archive and labeled with the sampling method, so you can judge the whole package rather than its best rows.
- 4
You contract directly with the seller, and we help agree acceptance tests, staged payments and remedies before any data is delivered.
What is customer support ticket data?
Customer support ticket data is the history of customer requests held in a helpdesk: the opening message, every agent and customer reply, internal notes, tags, priority, resolution status and satisfaction ratings. The most useful archives keep the link between each ticket and the knowledge base article or fix that closed it.
micro1's data partnerships page names support tickets alongside SOPs, project histories, CRM records and internal communications as operational data it licenses from companies with 30 or more full-time employees.
What do AI teams use support ticket data for?
AI teams use support ticket data to train assistants that answer customers and agents that take actions to resolve their problems. A resolved ticket is a worked example with a starting state, a sequence of steps and a measurable result.
- Supervised fine-tuning on agent replies that customers rated highly
- Triage and routing models trained on tags, priority and the team that solved each ticket
- Agent training where a model must look up an order, apply a policy and close the case
- Evaluation sets of tickets with known correct resolutions, kept as a hold-out set
How much does support ticket data cost?
Support ticket data has no published buyer price list. The clearest public signals are the payouts that training-data companies advertise to the companies whose records they license.
| Buyer | Published company payout | Relevance to support data | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| micro1 | $100,000 to $500,000 for a qualified partnership, $500,000 to $3 million for large-scale or ongoing datasets | Lists support tickets and CRM records | micro1 data partnerships page, November 2026 |
| Mercor | $20,000 to $250,000 for call centers with 50 to 5,000 agents | Licenses recorded customer conversations | Mercor listing via ddiy.co, October 2026 |
These are payouts to data owners. A buyer's total cost also includes cleaning, redaction review and the work of evaluating dataset samples before signing.
What are the privacy risks in support ticket data?
Support ticket data is full of customer personal data, often typed into free text where automated redaction misses it. Names, email addresses, order numbers, postal addresses and screenshots all need handling, and anything that remains must be disclosed in line with the privacy laws that apply, such as the CCPA for California customers.
Card details are a specific hazard. The PCI Security Standards Council states that sensitive authentication data, which includes card verification codes, must not be stored after authorization even if encrypted, so any ticket containing it should be removed rather than masked.
The seller must also respect the privacy notice that applied when customers wrote in. FTC staff warned in February 2024 that adopting more permissive data practices, such as using data for AI training, through a surreptitious, retroactive amendment to a privacy policy may be unfair or deceptive.
Under the CCPA, at California Civil Code section 1798.140(ad), making a consumer's personal information available to a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration is a sale, unless the data meets the statute's deidentified standard. If you hold UK or EU tickets, UK GDPR or EU GDPR requires a lawful basis for the disclosure or proper anonymization.
How should support ticket data be delivered?
Support ticket data is easiest to use when delivered as one JSON or JSONL record per ticket, with messages in order, timestamps, author roles such as customer, agent or bot, tags, priority, status and satisfaction score. Internal notes belong in a separate field so they can be included or excluded.
Ask for linked knowledge base articles with stable IDs, and for a field showing whether each reply came from a person or an automated system. Replies from an old chatbot teach a new model to imitate that chatbot.
What should you check before buying support ticket data?
Before buying support ticket data, confirm that outcome fields survived the export and that redaction was tested on free text and attachments, not only structured fields. Ask for a random sample with the redaction method documented, then check it against the data manifest.
