Sell My Data To AI

How logistics and freight companies can sell data to AI companies

Last updated How we research

In short

Logistics and freight companies can license dispatch decisions, exception handling records, customer service threads and operating procedures to AI companies. micro1 names operations and logistics among the functions it buys data from, though no buyer publishes a logistics price range. Driver location and tachograph data is personal data, so we recommend excluding it and licensing the workflow records instead.

Key takeaways

  • AI buyers most want these records from logistics and freight companies: (1) dispatch, routing and load planning decisions with the reasons recorded, (2) exception records for delays, damage, shortages and refused deliveries and (3) customer service tickets and email threads with shippers and consignees.
  • No AI buyer publishes a price range for logistics and freight companies yet, so value depends on volume, years of history, structure and how cleanly the rights can be shown.
  • Size buyers look for: No logistics-specific minimum is published. micro1 asks for 30 or more full-time staff and primarily English documentation.
  • The first rights issue to clear: Vehicle tracking produces driver location data, which UK GDPR names as an identifier. This page covers 4 more.
  • Sellers pay nothing to be assessed. We charge a success fee only when a deal completes, and the fee is agreed in writing before we introduce you to any buyer.

Logistics and freight companies: what buyers look for

Records buyers ask for
  • Dispatch, routing and load planning decisions with the reasons recorded
  • Exception records for delays, damage, shortages and refused deliveries
  • Customer service tickets and email threads with shippers and consignees
  • Freight quotes, tender responses and rate negotiation notes
  • Warehouse and depot procedures, safe systems of work and SOPs
  • Carrier and subcontractor onboarding and performance records
Why buyers want them
micro1's published brief names operations and logistics as a target function and asks for workflows, SOPs, support tickets and project histories. micro1 says it uses de-identified company data to build reinforcement learning environments.
Size buyers look for
No logistics-specific minimum is published. micro1 asks for 30 or more full-time staff and primarily English documentation.
Rights issues to clear
  • Vehicle tracking produces driver location data, which UK GDPR names as an identifier
  • Tachograph records exist for drivers' hours enforcement, and reuse needs a compatible purpose
  • Dashcam and yard CCTV footage shows drivers, the public and number plates
  • Shipper contracts may make rates, volumes and consignee details confidential
  • Customs and trade documents reveal clients' suppliers, values and routes

Why logistics and freight companies work with us

  1. 1

AI buyers are licensing records from logistics and freight companies to train models on real work. We tell you in one consultation whether yours are in demand.

  2. 2

Every buyer we introduce passes five checks, including company identity, intended use and security, before seeing even a redacted sample of your records.

  3. 3

You pay nothing unless a deal completes. Our success fee is agreed in writing before we introduce you to any buyer.

  4. 4

Your raw data never passes through us. You sign a license directly with your chosen buyer, after your own lawyer has reviewed it.

A logistics business makes a recorded decision every time a load is planned, rerouted or held. micro1, which said in October 2026 it would spend $1 billion over 12 months on enterprise operational data, lists operations and logistics as one of the functions it wants data from.

What logistics data do AI companies buy?

AI companies buy logistics data that shows how work gets done: who decided what, with what information, and what happened next. micro1's published brief asks for SOPs, process documentation, workflows, templates, support tickets, project histories and internal communications.

Exception handling and customer service threads fit that brief closely. A delayed or damaged consignment produces a chain of messages, a decision and an outcome, which is the structure an agent trajectory records. Depot procedures and safe systems of work add the rules the decisions were made under.

Which logistics records should you hold back?

Logistics sellers should hold back driver-level location and hours data unless it can be fully de-identified. UK GDPR Article 4(1) names location data as an identifier, so a tracked vehicle linked to a rota is personal data about the driver.

What rights issues do logistics companies need to clear?

Tachograph and telematics data

Tachograph data is collected to meet drivers' hours rules. GOV.UK guidance says operators must download vehicle units at least every 90 days and driver cards at least every 28 days, and be able to produce records to enforcement officers for 12 months.

Licensing that data to an AI company is a new purpose. UK GDPR Article 8A, fully in force since February 5, 2026, weighs the link between the original and new purposes, the context of collection including the relationship between employer and driver, and the possible consequences for drivers. Data gathered to monitor workers under a legal obligation is hard to fit to those tests, so we recommend leaving it out.

Customer and subcontractor contracts

Shipper contracts may treat rates, volumes and consignee details as confidential. Daniel Goldberg of Frankfurt Kurnit Klein and Selz points out that email and chat contain other companies' confidential information, often covered by NDAs and commercial agreements, and holding a record does not give you the right to sell it.

Customs entries and commercial invoices reveal who your clients buy from, what they pay and where goods move. Treat them as client confidential unless your terms say otherwise.

Footage

Dashcam and yard CCTV records drivers, members of the public and vehicle registrations. The ICO treats facial images as biometric data only where they are used to identify someone, but the footage is still personal data, and clearing it frame by frame is slow.

How much is logistics data worth to AI buyers?

Logistics data has no published industry range. micro1's general tiers start at $100,000 to $500,000 for a qualified partnership and rise to $3 million or more for highly unique operational data. It prioritizes the US, then other Western markets, and says demand is strongest in the US, UK and Canada.

micro1 also says several years of records across multiple systems is generally a stronger fit. A forwarder with a long run of ticket history in one platform and procedures in another matches that description better than a new operator with a single system.

How do you sell logistics data through Sell My Data To AI?

You start with a 30-minute consultation covering likely buyer interest, a realistic range and the rights issues to clear first. Sellers pay nothing to be assessed. We charge a success fee only when a deal completes, agreed in writing before we introduce you to any buyer.

Every buyer is verified for company identity, intended use, security and retention commitments and onward transfer limits before seeing a sample. Book a consultation, or read how to sell data to AI companies first.

Frequently asked questions

Can we sell our telematics data to AI companies?
You can only license telematics data safely once it no longer identifies drivers. UK GDPR names location data as an identifier, and data gathered to monitor staff is hard to justify for a new commercial purpose under Article 8A. Aggregated or fully de-identified route data is a different question, but take independent legal advice first.
Do our shipper contracts stop us licensing data?
Shipper contracts may stop you licensing data that reveals rates, volumes or consignee details, so read them before preparing anything. Your own procedures and anonymized exception records are less likely to be caught. Our licensing agreement checklist covers the clauses buyers will ask about.
Does micro1 buy data from UK logistics firms?
micro1 names operations and logistics as a target function and says demand is strongest in the US, UK and Canada, with the US prioritized. It asks for 30 or more full-time staff and primarily English documentation. Our profile of micro1 sets out its published terms.
How long do we have to keep tachograph data?
GOV.UK guidance says operators must be able to produce tachograph records to enforcement officers for 12 months. That duty exists for enforcement, not licensing, and it is one reason we recommend excluding tachograph downloads and driver card data from any AI data package.
