What is AWS Data Exchange?
AWS Data Exchange is a catalog where AWS customers find, subscribe to and use third-party data in the cloud. Its homepage cites more than 3,500 third-party datasets, more than 1,000 free datasets and more than 300 providers, delivered as data files, tables and APIs that work with AWS analytics and machine learning services.
How do you sell on AWS Data Exchange?
AWS Data Exchange requires providers to register as AWS Marketplace sellers first. To sell paid products, the AWS Marketplace seller guide says you must be a resident or citizen of, or a business incorporated in, an eligible jurisdiction, a list that includes the UK, EU member states and the US.
You also need a bank account in an eligible jurisdiction that can accept US dollar disbursements, bank account verification and, for UK-based bank accounts, a Know Your Customer check.
When does AWS Data Exchange pay?
AWS Data Exchange disburses payments monthly to the bank account linked to your seller account, minus AWS Marketplace service fees. Payment runs on a rolling monthly cycle based on when the account was created, and funds are paid only after they are collected from the subscriber.
Who is AWS Data Exchange a good fit for?
AWS Data Exchange suits providers of refreshable, structured datasets that customers want delivered into AWS on subscription. It does not vet rights or de-identify records for you, so a company archive needs that work done first. Our data provenance guide sets out what subscribers will expect to see.
