Sell My Data To AI

Best ways to sell accounting and tax firm data to AI companies

By Gareth HoyleLast updated How we research

In short

The best ways to sell accounting and tax firm data to AI companies are a vetted broker such as Sell My Data To AI, or a license with Mercor, Labelbox Prism, Handshake AI or micro1. ddiy.co reported Mercor's referral listing at $25,000 to $865,000 for accounting firms. Review notes and tax computations show the professional judgment buyers are looking for.

Key takeaways

  • Mercor is best for firms of 5 to 200 staff on mainstream cloud tools.
  • Labelbox Prism is best for firms with financial modeling and review trails.
  • Handshake AI is best for firms with documented financial models and procedures.
  • Sell My Data To AI wrote this list and ranks itself first. The method section explains the criteria.
  • Every entry's facts come from the company's own published terms, checked November 2026.

Accounting and tax firms hold records of professional judgment applied to real numbers: working papers with reviewer notes, tax computations showing each adjustment, client query logs and firm audit manuals. Finished accounts show far less of that reasoning. Our accounting firm data page lists what buyers ask for.

ddiy.co reported Mercor's referral listing at $25,000 to $865,000 per firm for accounting and tax firms of 5 to 200 employees. Labelbox Prism lists financial modeling and financial reasoning traces among the data it acquires, and Handshake AI gives financial models and process documentation as examples.

Client confidentiality sets the limits. The ICAEW Code of Ethics bars using client information for the firm's advantage without authority, and US preparers need taxpayer consent under IRS Section 7216 before tax return information is used or disclosed. Our de-identification guide explains what buyers expect.

How we ranked this list

Sell My Data To AI wrote this list and ranks itself first. We are a broker with a commercial interest in the result, and some companies below offer a service similar to ours. Read the order with that in mind.

For accounting firms we gave extra weight to buyers whose published brief names finance records, and to terms that let a firm exclude client tax return information and AML files.

Ranking criteria, checked November 2026
CriterionWhat we checked
Fit for the data typeWhether the company names this kind of record in its own published brief
Published termsWhether payouts, size requirements and license terms appear on the company's own pages
VettingWhat checks the company says it runs on sellers, buyers or datasets before a sample changes hands
ExclusivityWhether licenses are exclusive, non-exclusive or perpetual, and whether that is published
FeesWhether the seller pays a fee or commission, and whether the rate is published
Payment timingWhen sellers are paid, as stated by the company
TransparencyHow much of the above you can confirm before a first call

Every fact about another company comes from our profile of it in the data buyers directory, checked on that company's own pages in November 2026. Where a term is missing we write "Not published" rather than guess. After first place, the order reflects fit for a company selling or licensing its data, not a quality score, and we do not rate any company negatively.

We rank Sell My Data To AI first because this is our list and our service is built for this reader, not because we scored ourselves against the others. We are independent of the buyers we work with, and our terms are on our fees and how we vet pages so you can compare them line by line.

Frequently asked questions

Can an accountant sell anonymized client data to AI companies?
Only with care. The ICAEW Code of Ethics says client information, including former clients' information, must not be used for the firm's advantage without proper authority. Anonymization reduces the risk, but you should check engagement letters and take independent advice. Firm audit and tax manuals, checklists and training material are usually easier to clear than client files.
Do US tax preparers need taxpayer consent to include tax returns?
Generally yes. IRS Section 7216 rules restrict tax return preparers from using or disclosing tax return information without the taxpayer's consent, and the IRS sets out the consent requirements in its Section 7216 information center. A simpler route is to leave US return data out and license firm manuals and de-identified review notes instead, after taking independent advice.
Which AI buyers name finance records in their brief?
micro1's data partnerships page names finance SOPs, Handshake AI gives financial models, process documentation and underwriting workflows as examples, and Labelbox Prism lists financial modeling and financial reasoning traces. Mercor names finance and insurance and professional services among its target industries, and SellMyData lists QuickBooks records among the data it buys from companies.
Will selling data affect a firm's anti-money laundering obligations?
It can if the wrong records go in. Money laundering report records should be excluded, because disclosure can amount to tipping off under section 333A of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. Keep AML files, suspicious activity reports and client identity documents out of scope, and record each exclusion in the data manifest so the buyer can confirm it.
