How does Perplexity pay publishers?
Perplexity pays publishers a share of revenue rather than a fixed license fee. Its Publishers' Program post of July 30, 2024 says that when Perplexity earns revenue from an interaction referencing a publisher's content, that publisher earns a share. Launch partners were TIME, Der Spiegel, Fortune, Entrepreneur, The Texas Tribune and WordPress.com, who also received free API access and a year of Enterprise Pro.
Axios reported in August 2025 that Perplexity would give publishers 80% of revenue from Comet Plus, a $5 a month subscription, and keep 20% for computing costs. It set aside $42.5 million for early participants, with payments tied to traffic from Comet results and the Comet Assistant.
Can your company sell data to Perplexity?
Perplexity's program is for publishers whose content appears in search answers, not for companies with internal records. Its post does not say whether partner content is used for model training.
